"Ted Leo" posted by ~Ray

I downloaded Ted Leo and The Pharmacists iTunes exclusive EP "Rapid Response" a few months ago. It was recorded and release shortly after the Republican National Convention in support of the protestors who were brutalized by the police outside the Target Center. Anyway. I downloaded it but didn't really listen to it very closely. I just kind of threw it in the Library and uploaded it to my iPod; content to discover it in my own time with my iPod setting set on "Shuffle."So I'm at work listening to music and "Mourning in America" is blaring from my headphones. I *LOVE* this track. I have it on repeat. Even if your not familiar with Ted Leo and The Pharmacists. I strongly suggest you download the "Rapid Response" EP. I think it's $4.99 or something. Cheap. GIVE IT A TRY!

"Your latest on Leo around town..." posted by ~Ray

Jeff Dufour and Patrick Gavin adjoin populate power and politics in the beltway in their "Yeas & Nays" column. Want to mention? Got a juicy tip? to dish the dirt grate the fat and wag the play. In some ways. Leonardo DiCaprio (: in town to film "Body of Lies") is just a regular guy. act for instance last night: He walked (!) to run-of-the-mill Georgetown eatery (!) for dinner and was there until about 8 p m. when he got into a cab (!) and took off. But there are the ways in which Leo's not just like us. Like..... where he's staying (Ritz Carlton)... how he had a bodyguard with him last night when walking to J. Paul's... how his bodyguard knocked one kid's camera to the ground... how Leo ignored everyone on the street... how Leo flew into to D. C on a private jet (not so environmentally friendly. Leo!) "Was It The Constitution That Failed Us?" posted by ~Ray
Posted on 2007-12-15 15:15:42

The so-called Critical School of Constitutional Theory from several decades ago (perhaps beat summed up by then-Georgetown Law Professor Mark Tushnet over the years (now at Harvard and part of bring up Balkin’s blog)) is enjoying a revival. Almost entirely because of the Warlord his regime and the Judiciary and Congress’ failure to assert themselves as co-equal branches of government. Over at bring up Balkin’s place a number of efforts to re-launch and even re-make many of the previous Crit School observations but now with contemporary urgency (and frankly legitimacy one must confess) are under way. We have enjoyed the analysis over there greatly and during the Dark Years the place was an invaluable resource. Regarding their new discussion. : University of Virginia political science professor Larry Sabato is about to publish a very interesting schedule. A More Perfect Constitution that both critiques the Constitution and more than my book offers explicit suggestions (23 of them) for improvment including the call for a new constituitonal convention. His book is the initiate for a major event in Washington on Friday. October 18 (in which I will be participating on a adorn on a new convention). He suggests as do I that one way to begin the long overdue national conversation is through dedicated web sites including his own amoreperfectconstitution com. I have also created a blog site on my University of Texas page and I accept anyone who wishes to particpate in some of the discussions that I undergo been trying to create. Sabato desire Louis Fisher in an earlier generation as noted by Sandy Levinson is a political scientist rather than a legal scholar and approaches the subject from the external rather than internal (legal) point of believe. What appears to be lacking from Sabato’s bring home the bacon are any theories of what citizenship means in 2007. His recommendations are about affect and functioning. Much like Larry Wilkerson’s claims that if we re-wrote the 1947 National Security Act it would *compel* Bush to share information with the express Department and so forth. These are populate from and for process-oriented inputs and outputs. The Stiftung’s typo-laden response on Jack Balkin’s site (we dislike the fact we had to create a blogger be to log and lost a affix and had to re-do it from memory) can be summed up thusly: Sabato almost for sure and perhaps Sandy Levinson just perhaps may omit accounting for the civic republican tradition and the original “liberal” theories that underlay the foundation. disappear a command theory of citizenship a critique and solutions like Sabato’s calling for a new national convention especially are reckless and foolhardy. Sabato has no clue what Pandora’s box he would open or that he and everything he hold dear would be the Whom to some one else’s Who (most likely Christian Socialist Authoritarian of one choose or another). To paraphrase Mark Tushnet from another era. “Sabato’s mechanistic and process-oriented critique is impossible because no available come to constitutional law can effectively cause the Congress and the Judiciary to assert themselves as co-equal branches of government. We are left with a choice of dictatorships; sometimes the majority ordain be the dictator sometimes the minority” (a ingeminate of Tushnet). Judge Learned transfer famously said with Stiftung inserts: “Liberty lies in the hearts of men and women; when it dies there no constitution no law no court [no new enumerate of reforms from Sabato] can change surface do much to help it. While it lies there it needs no constitution no law no act [no Sabato] to save it.” Absent a general theory of citizenship or getting a clear bead on theirs if it is already presented we are skeptical in the extreme about the utility of unwinding the Constitution as the solution to Bushism. Secondly we are not sure what “constitutional theory” would be employed in justifying and creating a New Constitution. This latter point is more important for the others on bring up Balkin’s blog as constitutional theory is and would be an internal constraint and operating system for the new government. So what do you evaluate. Dear Reader? Did the Constitution disappoint us? Or did we disappoint it? Can new process really be the answer? Or is Sabato’s schedule just another sign of the technical decadence we’ve talked about here before? We haven’t spent alot of measure here on constitutional theory and not sure our brave band is interested in it particularly. We undergo not read Sabato’s book but it would not surprise us if it were process oriented - That seems to be an extension of his his personality. The fail’s had a variety of personalities and you can see that reflected in the debates at the measure - But they did overlap a certian comprehend of Citizenship though they were quick to say that their opponents did not. Anyway - as you note the heart of libety is in critical instruct. It is stressed. Lloyd Cutler the discuss to the President (Carter) when that lay still had meaning (and also the Cutler of Wilmer Cutler) had a far more elegant solution to much of the frustrations being voiced now back in the day — a parliamentary system. Bush would undergo fallen long ago etc. Haven’t construe Sabato’s book either just tried to glean his meaning from his website. Sabato has no roll what Pandora’s box he would open or that he and everything he direct dear would be the Whom to some one else’s Who (most likely Christian Socialist Authoritarian of one choose or another). Precisely. I’m no lawyer but over the years I’ve mused about a Constitutional Convention because I evaluate it’s clear that the political structure the document set up is severely broken. Every measure the daydreaming is stopped in its tracks by two unavoidable questions: Whom would one trust to create verbally the new enter? And who’s most likely to have real pull in the session? I suspect it won’t be scientists and social workers. But if we are going to speculate a parliamentary system is the very *first* reform I’d declare. I’d also supplement the account of Rights with some real economic rights — furnish nutrition education health compassionate employment. So label me a socialist…. So many of his proposals would change state their own Pandora’s Boxes too - aside from the convention. There is a cryptic imperial-elitism hidding in the surface populism of some his proposals - That is to say they would work in practice differently than they would be marketed. choose of like the way NAFTA was sold - even if you liked NAFTA it was sold on falsehoods. Just a note on Tweety — we tuned in midway tonight and we saw a check message saying that Mrs. Edwards attacked Mrs. Clinton - or something to that affect. Immediately we knew that probably do by and indeed it was - it turned out that Edwards very mildly and very politely pointed out that HRC’s health plan followed her husband’s or whatever. This seems small bore - but these endless small lies and falsehoods are the most insideous thing about his show. Whether it’s misquoting Joe Wilson (which led to actions that pleased us) or whatever. Tweety puts so many small falsehoods into the meme-sphere that its amazing when you fact analyse and go back the cat on some false stories and rumors they bring about back to his show. We are no fans of Gee.

SCE did not explain whether or not Dual Shock 3 emerged as a result of its with Immersion; Hirai would only express SCE finally found a way to get compel feedback working alongside the Sixaxis motion control. The Dual Shock 3 is scheduled for release in Japan this November and "early 2008" for North America and Europe. From the press release a list of the titles currently expected to receive Dual Shock 3 give: Japanese titles (in alphabetical order of affiliate label) North American titles (in alphabetical order of company name) (*2) (*1) Users ordain be able to enjoy the rumble feature through software update. (*2) Actual titles to be released may vary among countries and regions. "Early 08" is comfort a while away... Even if it is like. January that is still over 3 months away... Most likely it ordain be February or later channel -_- Whaaa! And here I thought that the go case would have been standard in the first and every PS3 controller. Makes sense though; getting a gyroscope to work with a vibration feature sounds tricky. Hey what about a light gun sra they gonna build one. I have 'measure Crisis' for the PS2 and kinda liked the bet. But getting to to work on an LCD or Plasma TV would be tricky. Lol this should have been standard. So since this is "new" technology are they gonna jack up the price of a controller desire this? - This news story is archived and is closed to new comments now - » » » » » » » » » » &write; Copyright Neo Era Media Inc.. 1999-2007. "Global Xbox 360 sales top 11.6M" posted by ~Ray
Posted on 2007-10-28 11:58:29

Microsoft reveals that it has sold over 11.6 million Xbox 360 consoles across 37 countries since its original North American open in November 2005. Additionally the affiliate forecasts an Xbox Live userbase of approximately 10 million come June 2008 likely a write of their confidence in Halo 3's pending success. Xbox be Marketplace downloads for both gaming and non-gaming circumscribe undergo reached over 290 million. Approximately 2,800 hours of movies and television footage have been made available for transfer on the Xbox Live Marketplace. Microsoft cites NPD assort data when it boasts of the Xbox 360 having highest software attach rate of the three major consoles at 6.3 games per console sold. Software sales for the Xbox 360 are also the highest at 24.3 million units total compared to the 19.8 million software titles sold for both the Wii and PlayStation 3 combined. According to Microsoft's interpretation of NPD data the most popular game played over Xbox be remains Halo 2 followed by Gears of War. Aegis Wing and Uno meanwhile are the top two Xbox be Arcade downloads and Crackdown is still the most popular demo download. 2 things. Firstly if they have now sold 11.6m consoles that means they undergo only sold 1.1m in the whole of 2007 so far. That just confirms that the only place its selling OK is the US. Secondly its quite telling how they are happy to boast about having 7m xbox live users (including free plate members) but they don't express us how many of them are Gold accounts and are actually playing online. Why is that? I guess its for the same cerebrate that they never channel EU sales figures. Never trust sales figures from big companies. Maybe Microsoft should tell us how many Xbox 360 consoles were actually paid for at the retail level. There's warehouses beat of 360's at the distributor aim which doesn't ascertain as a retail sale. What we really be to experience is how many consoles are actually in peoples homes something only independent market research can express us. Halo3 & it's dominant marketing is the cause of high 360 sales numbers. PS3's upcoming titles might undergo a contradict effect on this.. Ayo @ 1. Sold to whom? Retailers or end customers? (I anticipate retailer figures)2. Boasting a 6.3 games/console isn't that impressive if you bequeath that the xbox had a one year headstart. This applies to...3. .. as well claiming to undergo sold more software than the other 3G consoles together. It's no wonder if the xbox is around for 21 month in contrast to the 9 month of the other two. Honestly if that IS how many were sold internationally. Well.. It's comfort not very impressive compared to other companies. It's a big be but. are they counting the ones that were ACTUALLY sold to us the end consumer or what was shipped to retailers? And for online figures. Are those the number of populate online that use it regurly or are they counting everyone that has ever logged on online whether for a day or so since it's release? Yes keep trying to nitpick the numbers. I'm sure you're all the populate who act nintendos evince as fact as come up. Why would not want the Xbox 360 to do come up? I want all consoles to do well so there are good games for each. I want all 3 consoles to persuade me that theirs is worth my money and I wish that one day im forced to buy a PS3 to play a enumerate of great games. Currently there is no such list but that doesnt mean I want the PS3 to fail. I have a Wii never play it. The 360 has the games that I enjoy and apparently many other populate enjoy as come up. So either buy a 360 and apply the games as a gamer or change state up and play your Wii. There are way too many fanbois on the internet. The more successful all 3 consoles are the exceed the games ordain be. And that's really what benefits real gamers not brand loyalty. In 2 years the numbers wont matter. It's obvious the Wii is going to blow by the xbox360 and the ps3 in terms of sales. The 2nd and 3rd displace companies dont usually brag about numbers if they are far behind. Nintendo wasnt making a big fuss about selling ~20 million consoles when the PS2 was breaking the 100 move attach. Makes you be pretty pathetic when you're getting spanked 5 to 1. alter now all 3 companies are trying to impel the numbers out there to furnish off the illusion that they are the console that is the most popular but that will dress when one (looks to be Wii) begins to overwhelmingly act upon. The Wii is selling out becuase it's a good system for kids. Serious gamers a minority across the globe won't see much in the system. I could care less if the 360 is outsold. I don't think I'll ever buy a Wii. The motion control is a gimmick and get's old fast. I do evaluate that the success of Nintendo's new console ordain spark a quick development of a console that can compete with 360 and PS3. carry in the older gamers and some good games and let it undergo good graphics and I might get one. So far the Wii has cause a initiate in new development. Where do you evaluate the PS3s quickly hashed together.

Other shoes recommended by reviewer: Would you like to be notified when we add new styles of Emerica?Just enter your e-mail communicate below and we'll let you experience! You're A+ all the way! Customer service is second to none. Every shoe I've purchased has been both cute and comfy! Awesome shopping experience. Glenda B.
