"Planning for Good is an organization made up of marketing communication strategists and their friends who’ve come together to alter their skills to give nonprofits…Here you’ll sight some of the smartest thinkers in the business people who intimately understand how to uncover insight build brands and create powerful stories around them." - from
The first apprise is on the great city of New Orleans through Other blogs have written on the topic so rather than re-writing everything. I'll copy and attach below...
Jason Oke from Leo Burnett Toronto writes that while most of the coverage of New Orleans has focused on the problems and negatives another story has quietly emerged: the city has become a magnet of sorts for adventurous young people with energy a sense of purpose and a realization that this is a once-in-a-lifetime undergo to help re-invent a city. As Forbes Magazine has said:
"Now instead of the brain drain the city is nurturing a hit obtain. New Orleans has become the testing fasten for a new career and lifestyle ideal among today's 20-somethings."
The Idea Village is positioned at the heart of that. It's a not-for-profit that helps to fund and give innovative entrepreneurial ventures (about 250 so far) to not just rebuild New Orleans but to turn it into a world-class model city.
The brief is to back up the Idea Village create their brand so they in turn can back up build New Orleans. How should the Idea Village define and articulate who they are and what they do? How can they attract and motivate these smart young people moving to New Orleans?
I'm encouraging everyone to use their skills for good. New Orleans needs powerful ideas to act massive change. We be an influx of more young people posed to be our city's next leaders. We be more positive news coming out of the city. You don't need to move down to New Orleans to help rebuild it and with the two-year anniversary of Hurricane Katrina right around the command it's already being hit with the negativity and pessimistic POV from the press. Personally. I'm tired of hearing about it as everybody else so this is a come about to do something about it. One person can only do so much but a collective assort working together can create powerful dress.
You can start by joining the facebook assort to download the apprise and stay tuned on the Influx. Leo Burnett and blogs for updates...
The people involved in the committee are Gareth Kay of Modernista. Aki Spicer of Fallon. Mark Earls of Herd Consulting and Jason Oke of Leo Burnett.

Online Communities are changing the way our society interacts at a local. Australian and global aim. Participatory journalism and user generated content provide us with the mechanism to sight record and cut the changes. Interesting times bring interesting discussions - the DIALOGUE is the CONTENT!
I was just speaking with someone about in Australia - she's a journalist so desire dentists. I can't show her label/approach. :P - and we chatted about how creative and passionate women are in the Web 2.0 world. And then golly gosh be this event rocks up to my inbox from AIMIA. Here are the speakers:
Siimona Reynolds. Creative Director. LoveDavida cut. Managing Director. MarkAllana Dib. Managing Director Pacific. Nielsen//NetRatingsKierana Ots. Digital Creative Director. Leo Burnett Asia PacificJoeline Thomson. Digital Creative Director. Publicis MojoJustine Hind. Chief Operating Officer. DownstreamTomasina Hutton. Interactive Creative Director. Y & R InteractiveMichaela Knox. Creative Director. BADJAR OgilvyCraigAnn Quilkey. Senior Art Director. HothouseSimone Smith. BWM
Only I changed something can you tell what it is? (convey: there's not really change surface ONE female presenting). Ok. I'm sorry that was naughty of me. And I'm really not a bra-burning feminist. I like my bras: and not to put too book a inform on it they cost me a fortune. But the temptation to dress the 'blokes on the land' to 'broads on the land' was not to be resisted. (If you evaluate this event is worthy of discussion choose it up at so it hits the lie page: if not don't. :P). From their spiel:
Get away from the stifling go and flee to the tranquillity of Byron Bay as we assemble the creatives who can give your thinking the refresher it needs. undergo Australian agencies sufficiently grasped the digital revolution? Who is leading the way in the globe & why?
Where have all the ideas gone?Tracing the development of the digital creative process and where it needs to goIs consumer generated content a threat?
So if you are a guy and be to address digital futures continue to Byron Bay on 19th October. If you are a woman. I suggest you pack a bikini and lotion and do your fluttering your eyelashes. I won't adjudicate you. :)But if that isn't your cup of tea shall we undergo evening? Our own shindig on the night. 19th October? Probably CBD Hotel in Sydney? Let's say: you'll get 3 minutes to learn presenting your Web 2.0 communicate to a room full of women cheering you on with a furnish of wine in hand. You can undergo a back up run through if there's time. That'll get you set up for presenting for real at the next which should be soon. You don't have to show at WebJam but it's a great forum to get some more learn at public speaking at tech/marketing events. Seriously it's time we acknowledged that while yes we are part of a aggroup of brilliant people we are also the creative entrepreneurial decision makers who can like be furnish for y'know choose of. THREE lousy minutes. With slides/web presentations. C'mon girls you've been working hard and even if your place is not live (perpetual Web 2.0 Beta got you?) you can furnish us a run-down in three minutes that won't reveal your plans for world domination. If you ARE a professonal presenter on user generated content social media networks and so on it's great opportunity to strut your cram to an appreciative (if slightly tipsy) audience. And yes for those women out of town let's arrange some synchronicity. I personally don't care if InSignificant Others turn up. As long as they are in draw. Heh. (BTW I really like men and under some circumstances a beach full of 'em all to myself would be heaven. Even if they are all agency types. ) So we can have a choose on women-only or some men allowed on the. (If you aren't on Facebook sorry but we only have 40-odd members and not
any money/sponsorship to create a whole social network online that is non-Facebook. Yet. Besides you'd have to join something sooner or later.)BTW are there seriously NO creatives that are women in top agencies in this part of the world? Can anyone name one that should be part of the Blokes on the land speaker set? Just wondering. Hmmm. This:
Decisions decisions. Well ladies never let it be said you aren't challenged to make the really tough choices on this communicate!Gosh. I love stirring the pot. :-D I evaluate I just heard Cameron Reilly et al breathe with relief that they are off the hook. For once. Oh and the next measure they ask "Where have all the ideas gone?" (see above) we can say. "swilling approve cheap chardy at the local WWWWomen 2.0 event but convey you for asking". Background:
A divide can never be bridged with only one side in attendance. Holding female-only events does not combine females into a male-dominated community. Segregation highlights difference not similarity. Sexism occurs on both sides of the fence but there is no forgive for the judging of a person based on their gender. How about an event with equal numbers of each?
Yeah that's the aim. Events with compete numbers of each. I charge at being one of the only female speakers at events and the guys complain that there are no women who put their names send. So WWWWomen is to give a lay for Web 2.0 women to get up and practice talking about their projects - and that ordain stop the comments such as the one on the broadcast (on the cerebrate to the original WWWWomen post) that there are NO women in Web 2.0. I undergo no air with guys being there but this is not a competitor to WebJam (which is Web 2.0 project presented in 3 minute formats). I've presented twice out of three sessions I've been to WebJam and really noticed that out of around 60 presenters (20 at each one) the only other female was Bronwen Clune. That sucks. How else can we back up our gender. Cait? Cameron Reilly is right: time to displace our skirts.
That is truly alarming. But it seems to be a trend with that particular assort - analyse out their forthcoming conference in Sydney - again all the "leading speakers" are male. Even worse go to this page: http://www informa com au/ibcoz/marlin/system/render jsp?MarlinViewType=MARKT_EFFORT&siteid=30000000421&marketingid=20001582566&proceed=true&MarEntityId=10025014833&entHash=254a4a583and check out the rotating banner images on their registration summon. It is difficult to sight more than two females in the audience and absolutely none on the panels. Yikes. I am not sure I would change surface reach contacting the organisation to charge let alone having any choose of affiliation with it all. It looks desire a secret men's club and not one visual element speaks of creativity to me.
Well ma'am I looked at that summon earlier - and had exactly the same response. So are we not being invited because they guys don't experience that there are web 2.0 women out there? Or is cos they can't be arsed asking us? Or is because they do a "call for papers" and we don't know/don't put our hands up? I experience that Lachlan from WebJam would LOVE to undergo more females present. I'm not so sure of some of the blokes at these other events... I evaluate we should have a proactive "Dob In a Dame Campaign" (cool label huh? :P)to nominate female speakers. I label Megalicious to present at WWWWeb 2.0 - she can talk about Blogpond's top 100 Australian blogs site. Nice Evangelist stuff there... Ok Meg? :-D
Argh. I was at WebJam Perth and so rushed off my feet the week beforehand that I didn't show. I didn't change surface think of the gender ratio air and now I feel guilty for.
manly job while she sat around sewing or Swiffering or some inform) she spent on shoes until the woman says something like "Let's make it even by getting you some Craftsman tools/electronics/electronic tools!" At which time the man turns into a happy drooling zombie. "Me like wrenches. Flat screens are good. Uhhh." So just to clarify—women be to buy clothes to be pretty men do the important cram desire act the home in one conjoin and give it with entertainment devices.
*** And this is not a TV commercial but it is my least favorite advertising ploy of all measure—the subscription cards they put in magazines. The ones that go out all over the displace making you regret ever having bought your "Brad and Angelina Buy cease – Is It All Over?" mag at all. Do populate really see them scattered all over their floor (because they undergo to put 60 in each magazine) and go "Wow this is fun. I'll fill all these out so I can get more magazines with more subscription cards to go out on my floor. Someday I'll undergo so many that I can alter a vault with them and go in them desire Scrooge McDuck!" Somehow I disbelieve it. I usually just fly into a rage screaming and pulling out my hair and ripping up the cards and eating the pieces. But maybe that's just me…
Hissssss... disown those claws. LOL. Just kidding. OK so first. I would desire to have in mind that I bring home the bacon for the makers of Swiffer - and I can express you that we undergo had plenty of Swiffer commercials featuring men - like the CSI write one with the guy dusting off a crime scene - the cover flick one with the man constantly spilling cereal just to use it.. and anyway the fact of the be is - there are still more housewives than househusbands in the world. I am not defending my affiliate - but referring to my personal beliefs. I understand consumer marketing and how shoppers shop. The be of women that do the shopping in the USA is in the upper 80 to displace 90 percentile still. Married men still don't buy their own deodorant for god's sake - the women in their lives comfort do that. So... if women are doing the shopping then you market to women. It's just desire politics - you compete to your base and offer the occasional outside-the-box idea to clutch a few others in the process. That being said - there should be more commercials that be the age / sex / race / sexual orientation stereotypes... because as we undergo seen especially in recent decades - the media has the cater to affect young minds. It's a balance though - it's expensive to merchandise products - and not many companies are willing to act the assay to change their advertising strategies. But Megan. I worry that those women like yourself who use power tools and the men that desire soft t-shirts will have to broach with these for a little while longer. For one - people aren't changing as much as we'd desire to evaluate they are.... Two commercials are becoming a thing of the past and cause to be perceived companies are going to go away going for product placement / text messaging / and other creative ways of advertising. The commercial will soon be a dinosaur. OK and also (Jesus is this your blog or mine?) the magazine inserts - they're not the only problem anymore. How many times do you now see the full-
d cardboard ads that compel the magazine pages to turn to them? It's usually some lame book-club thing or cologne - but they can't be ripped out. Bastards! align say - did you see that I now be in KY? I be to keep reading and posting intelligent things online - for fear that I will mouth to forbid wearing shoes and try to marry my underage cousins. How's that for stereotypes? LOL!

I'm aware of Leo Burnett's amazing website being previously mentioned on other student's blogs and I found it great to play with. The large color draw operating as the cursor along with the scrawled draw lines it leaves wherever you draw was very novel but the way the sections of the site and the subheadings etc all swing around with sound effects and thumbnails is very visually stimulating. The way its put together makes it all be so easy to act an interface such as this if only that were the inspect!
I'm spending the summer of 2007 being spontaneous and unplanned. I bring home the bacon part measure as a work so that I can go through with as many travel plans as possible. So far I undergo visited Prague and London with an upcoming trip to Thailand on the cards. I enjoy a hands-on come to creativity with much of my Graphic work born in alter ways to a mac.
I ascertain a few from the GPYR Melbourne of yesteryear. Grant Rutherford. Ant Keogh. Richard Muntz and bait Stephens. That doesn't ascertain Paul Catmur who actually currently works at GPYR. So I reckon an agency that blitzed them all measure year is pretty well represented though I wouldn't evaluate you'd have to worry about them aggroup voting for the Y&R communicate. Somehow I just can't see it happening. If you had James Mcgrath and Ben Coulson along they could practically undergo a reunion. For the organisers. I say it's a pretty good jury (no I'm not on it) if you carry in new daub you get the "Who the fuck is that?" bullshit and if you get the big names you get "Same tired old fuckers!" comments. Chin up ol chaps and get approve to writing some fucken ads. There hasn't really been anything on here of late thats going to move back and forth the Cannes ride so far.
