Since Mitt Romney declined to tell the American people about *who he is* in his freebie airtime speech. I thought it would be prudent to post something here. I don’t do this out of anger. I do this out of concern for humanity.
Now please know that Ed Decker is not popular with Mormons. They spend enormous time and energy - in mass - working to discredit him and his truth. It’s a whole lot of Mormons against one man- and many many x mormons. I am one of them. I believe in Ed Decker only because I know what he is talking about. So here is what Ed has to say about Mitt Romney’s agenda. He didn’t speak to it for obvious reasons. But the people deserve to know those reasons. He ducked it. He is a pretender.
I don’t mean that in a hateful way. As I have said here so many times: The majority of the members of the LDS church are wonderful people with big hearts and lives. They know not what they are members of.
My only aim is to help educate people on who he is because his faith will play THE ONLY ROLE in his decision making. I was a mormon. I know the agenda. The agenda is that everyone will become Mormon. There is an even larger agenda than that from what the numbers show me but I have already laid that out earlier.
Now. I do come from a different place in terms of what the Mormon faith *really* is. Who the founder *really* was… and yadda yadda. I am also not a Bible peep. I am a follower of what is called A Course In Miracles for those of you who know. It is the remedy to religion. But. I am a believer in the teachings of Jesus. I honor his life a little differently. I don’t go to church. What I do do… is….. I actually oppose war and torture and poverty and greed and flouride in the water and chemtrails and secrecy and murder. See that is what Jesus believed in. Anyway… I digress…..
Mitt Romney aligns with Blackwater and wants me to believe he is a Christian. Any person who aligns with Blackwater is not of the light. Period. It’s a no brainer. If you really want to know who you walk with ask them about the true teachings of Jesus and watch them excuse their belief and their vote.
That’s what some of the LDS emails are saying coming from Mormons who have watched as LDS leadership have denied the Jesus-Lucifer doctrine and the basic theological foundation of Mormonism,
When presidential candidate Mike Huckabee asked the simple question. ‘Do Mormons believe that Jesus and Lucifer are brothers;’ you would have thought he had just raped Mother Theresa. Mitt Romney and the leaders of the Mormon Church howled about how someone could ask such an offensive question in the course of political dialog.
However neither Romney nor the brethren answered the question.
A spokeswoman for the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints said Huckabee’s question is usually raised by those who wish to smear the Mormon faith rather than clarify doctrine.
“We believe as other Christians believe and as Paul wrote that God is the father of all,” said the spokeswoman. Kim Farah. “That means that all beings were created by God and are his spirit children. Christ on the other hand was the only begotten in the flesh and we worship him as the son of God and the savior of mankind. Satan is the exact opposite of who Christ is and what he stands for.”
“The appointment of Jesus to be the Savior of the world was contested by one of the other sons of God. He was called Lucifer spirit-brother of Jesus desperately tried to become the Savior of mankind.”
“His [Jesus’] trials were continuous. Perhaps his brother. Lucifer had heard him say when he was still but a lad of 12. ‘Whist ye not that I must be about my Father’s business?’”
“…Then came the time when Satan thought to trip him. Their encounter in the previous world had been on more equal terms but now Jesus was young and Satan was experienced.”
As far as the Jesus and Lucifer being brothers is concerned some powerful verses to share with Mormons are from Colossians:
He [Jesus] is the image of the invisible God the firstborn over all creation. For by him were all things created that are in heaven and that are on earth visible and invisible whether thrones or dominions or principalities or powers. All things were created through him and for him. And he is before all things and in him all things consist. (Colossians 1:15-17)
You can point out that Lucifer is an angel (see Ezek.28:12-19 esp v.14) and that
does the Bible say he was begotten or born of God. In fact the Bible teaches to the contrary that Jesus is God’s ONLY BEGOTTEN SON! (John 3:16)
The passage in Colossians clearly states that Jesus created all things obviously including angels since angels are included among the thrones dominions principalities and powers. Far from being Lucifer’s older brother. Jesus is God Almighty come in the flesh (John 1:1-14. Col.2:9) and Lucifer is one of His creatures!
Thus to say that Jesus and Lucifer were brothers would be like saying Leonardo da Vinci is a brother of his painting the Mona Lisa. There is that large a qualitative difference between Jesus and ANY member of His creation certainly Lucifer!
Mitt Romney’s run for president has put his Mormon faith in the spotlight but the religion remains a mystery to most.
FOXNews com compiled a list of 21 questions representing some widely held beliefs and misconceptions about Mormonism. The article was originally posted to the official LDS church website (http://www lds org/ldsorg/v/index jsp?vgnextoid=e419fb40e21cef00VgnVCM1000001f5e340aRCRD) but it has since been removed. It can still be found at.
The Church objected to answering some of the questions on the grounds that they misrepresent the basic tenets of the Mormon religion.
“Many of these questions are typically found on anti-Mormon blogs or Web sites which aim to misrepresent or distort Mormon doctrines,” the Church said in a statement. “Several of these questions do not represent … any serious attempt to depict the core values and beliefs of its members.”
For the most part this seems to stem from a lack of understanding about the Church and its core doctrines and beliefs. Under those circumstances it is too easy to label a religion or other organization that is not well-known with an inflammatory term like ‘cult.’ Famed scholar of religion Martin Marty has said a cult means a church you don’t personally happen to like. We don’t believe any organization should be subjected to a label that has come to be as pejorative as that one.
Billy Graham defined a cult a long time ago. He said a cult has these characteristics: The Only true Faith. No One can be ‘saved’ outside it.” It has its own scripture that is purer and more correct than the Bible. It humanizes God and deifies man it redefines original sin it is first created by a strong charismatic man and then all authority and power rests only at the top and is controlled even at the local level. That just describes Mormonism…
Mormons believe Jesus Christ is literally the Son of God the Savior and Redeemer who died for the sins of humankind and rose from the dead on the third day with an immortal body. God the Father also has an immortal body.
They are playing word games here. This is “LDS speak,” as we call it. Same words different meanings altogether. Always have cultists define their terms.
First they believe that god a physical exalted man had actual intercourse or physical sex with Mary to ‘begat’ Jesus and secondly they ignore Biblical doctrine and state that god was once a man on some other planet who earned his godhood.
Mormons believe Jesus Christ is literally the Son of God the Savior and Redeemer who died for the sins of humankind and rose from the dead on the third day with an immortal body. God the Father also has an immortal body.
LDS teach that Jesus suffered for our sins in the Garden of Gethsemane conditional on our obedience to all the laws and ordnances of the LDS gospel. His death on the cross gives us ‘General salvation,’ physical resurrection where we can then be judged for our works our obedience to LDS doctrine. Those who are worthy go to the Celestial Kingdom and become gods and goddesses.
Mormons believe Jesus Christ is literally the Son of God the Savior and Redeemer who died for the sins of humankind and rose from the dead on the third day with an immortal body. God the Father also has an immortal body.
‘Kolob’ is a term found in ancient records translated by Joseph Smith. Joseph Smith did not provide a full description or explanation of Kolob nor did he assign the idea particular significance in relation to the Church’s core doctrines.
‘Kolob’ is a term found in ancient records translated by Joseph Smith. Joseph Smith did not provide a full description or explanation of Kolob nor did he assign the idea particular significance in relation to the Church’s core doctrines.
The Church answer to this one is not a misprint. Ducking the question is the Church’s only option because they know that if they fess up and admit to what LDS leaders have always taught about Kolob the entire world would then understand what we already know as a fact – that it is a complete fairy tale. The above response is deceitful in that they know exactly what has been taught since the beginning of Mormonism about the Mormon god and Kolob by their scripture and prophets.
In Mormon theology. Kolob is the great star nearest the resident planet of the Mormon god of this world; it is in their scriptures.
Pearl of Great Price. Book of Abraham and Chapter 3 found at :
3 And the Lord said unto me: These are the governing ones; and the name of the great one is
because it is near unto me for I am the Lord thy God: I have set this one to govern all those which belong to the same order as that upon which thou standest.
above another until thou come nigh unto Kolob which Kolob is after the reckoning of the Lord’s time; which Kolob is set nigh unto the throne of God to govern all those planets which belong to the same
Well the Brethren have been explaining that god and Mary had sex ever since the first days of the Church and it pours out of the mouths and pens of Mormon prophets and Apostles to this day. Their answer here is a complete fabrication and quote after quote from Mormon scriptures and authorities refute the answer they gave to Fox News.
The fleshly body of Jesus required a Mother as well as a Father. Therefore the Father and Mother of Jesus according to the flesh must have been associated together in the capacity of Husband and Wife; hence the Virgin Mary must have been for the time being the lawful wife of God the Father: we use the term lawful Wife because it would be blasphemous in the highest degree to say that He overshadowed her or begat the Savior unlawfully. Orson Pratt. The Seer p. 158
The birth of the Savior was as natural as are the births of our children; it was the result of natural action. He partook of flesh and blood was begotten of his Father as we are of our fathers. — Brigham Young. Journal of Discourses. 8:115
In relation to the way in which I look upon the works of God and his creatures. I will say that I was naturally begotten; so was my father and also my Savior Jesus Christ. According to the Scriptures he is the first begotten of his father in the flesh and there was nothing unnatural about it. — Heber C. Kimball. Journal of discourses. 8:211
Bruce R. McConkie deceased member of the 12 Apostles (d.1985) and leading LDS theologian writes on page 7 of MORMON DOCTRINE:
SON OF GOD: God the Father is a perfected glorified holy Man an immortal Personage. And Christ was born into the world as the literal Son of this Holy Being; he was born in the same personal real and literal sense that any mortal son is born to a mortal father. There is nothing figurative about his paternity; he was begotten conceived and born in the normal and natural course of events for he is the son of God and that designation means what it says.
The appearance of Jesus in the Western Hemisphere shortly after his resurrection is described in the Book of Mormon. Mormons believe that when Christ told his disciples in the Bible He had other ’sheep’ who should receive his message he was referring to those people in the Western Hemisphere.
They teach that he came and appeared to the people actually. Jews who migrated from Israel and their descendants some of whom had their skin darkened because of sin [the Indians or Lamanites]. All this has been r proven untrue by extensive DNA evidence. Oh by the way the Mormon Jesus caused the end of 13 cities that were destroyed and all the inhabitants living in them were destroyed because of His death on the cross.
The appearance of Jesus in the Western Hemisphere shortly after his resurrection is described in the Book of Mormon. Mormons believe that when Christ told his disciples in the Bible He had other ’sheep’ who should receive his message he was referring to those people in the Western Hemisphere.
We believe that the apostle Peter’s biblical reference to partaking of the divine nature and the apostle Paul’s reference to being ‘joint heirs with Christ’ reflect the intent that children of God should strive to emulate their Heavenly Father in every way. Throughout the eternities. Mormons believe they will reverence and worship God the Father and Jesus Christ. The goal is not to equal them or to achieve parity with them but to imitate and someday acquire their perfect goodness love and other divine attributes.
True for non-worthy women but LDS Women who have been sealed in the temple can only rise from the grave when called out with their secret temple name by their husbands.
Absolutely YES. If equal where is a Mormon Woman Bishop. Stake President. Elder. Deacon or General Authority. They don’t exist. Tell that to the President of the LDS Relief Society and the LDS Women who disagreed with her recent speech reminding them that they belong in the home serving…
Like members of many religious faiths. Latter-day Saints wear religious clothing. But members of other faiths — typically those involved in permanent pastoral ministries or religious services — usually wear religious garments as outer ceremonial vestments or symbols of recognition. In The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints garments are worn beneath street clothing as a personal and private reminder of commitments to God.
Garments are considered sacred by Church members and are not regarded as a topic for casual conversation.
How many of them have Masonic talismanic markings sewn into the breast navel and knee that Lucifer in the LDS Temple says are the emblems of his power and priesthoods???
“You have got to learn how to be gods yourselves…the same as all gods have done before you.” (Quoting Joseph Smith)
My Father worked out His Kingdom with fear and trembling and I must do the same; and when I get my kingdom. I shall present it to my Father so that He may obtain Kingdom upon Kingdom and it will exalt Him in glory. He will then take a higher exaltation and I will take His place and thereby become exalted myself.
If God became God by obedience to all of the gospel law with the crowning point being the celestial law of marriage then that’s the only way I can become a god. [Answer] Right!
(12-15) The endowment is the celestial course of instruction…being enabled to give them the key words the signs and tokens pertaining to the priesthood and gain your eternal exaltation in spite of earth and hell.
Baptism for the dead/keys to the holy priesthood ordained so you may receive honor and glory. For their salvation [the dead] is necessary and essential to our salvation.
vs.51-53 list some of the requirements vs.54-60. 70 list the rewards. They [temple Mormons] will be Kings and Priests and Gods.
Then shall they be Gods they shall have all power the angels are subject to them.
(1-15) Only resurrected and glorified Beings may become Parents of Spirit Offspring.
(1-17) Celestial marriage prepares men to be Kings and Priests unto God.
(1-18) Celestial marriage makes women Queens and Priestesses to their husbands.
(1-19) Celestial marriage makes it possible for us to claim our moral children in eternity as well as to propagate ourselves throughout eternity.
New and Everlasting Covenant [plural marriage]: Abide or be damned etc. Law of the Priesthood/also the name of the temple covenant sworn by all the temple endowment sisters.
Throughout the years in the church Blacks were a cursed people. This changed after the great Civil Rights laws were passed and the Mormons looked like fools to still call them cursed of God.
BRIGHAM YOUNG(Second Prophet and President of the Mormon Church)
“I have never yet preached a sermon and sent it out to the Children of men that they may not call scripture!” Journal of Discourses. Vol. 13 p. 95.
”You see some classes of the human family that are black uncouth uncomely disagreeable sad low in their habits wild ad seemingly without the blessings of the intelligence that is generally bestowed upon mankind. The first man that committed the odious crime of killing one of his brethren will be cursed the longest of any one of the children of Adam. Cain slew his brother. Cain might have been killed and that would have put termination to that line of human beings. This was not to be and the Lord put a mark on him which is the flat nose and black skin. Trace mankind down to after the flood and then other curse is pronounced upon the same race - that they would be the “servant of servants;” and they will be until that curse is removed; and the Abolitionists cannot help it nor in the least alter that decree.” Journal of Discourses. Volume 7 pp. 290-291
JOHN TAYLOR(Third Prophet and President of the Mormon Church)
“ after the flood we are told that the curse that had been pronounced upon Cain was continued through Ham’s wife as he had married a wife of that seed. And why did it pass through the flood? Because it was necessary that the devil should have a representation a upon a the earth as well as God;…” Journal of Discourses. Vol. 22 p. 304.
“When he (Satan) destroyed the inhabitants of the antediluvian worlds he suffered a descendant of Cain to come through the flood in order that he might be properly represented upon the earth.” Journal of Discourses. Vol. 23 p. 336
The Book of Mormon was translated by Joseph Smith from records made on plates of gold similar to metal plates that have been found in other ancient cultures. It contained a history of peoples in the Western Hemisphere including an appearance by the Savior to them. As such the Book of Mormon is considered a second testimony of Jesus Christ.
No other plates have been found written in some form of “reformed Egyptian” The Book of Mormon has been proven a fabrication by extensive DNA and archeological studies. It dies on page one!
Starting with the very first page of the Book of Mormon in the First Book of Nephi we read the account of Lehi the key prophet of the second migration. It is through this man that the actual Book of Mormon story comes forth. In I Nephi 1:4 we are told. “For it came to pass in the commencement of the first year of the reign of Zedekiah. King of Judah. (my father. Lehi having dwelt at Jerusalem in all his days); and in that same year there came many prophets prophesying unto the people that they must repent or the great city Jerusalem must be destroyed.”
Throughout the rest of Chapters One and Two we see that Lehi is a mighty prophet of the Lord and after much danger leaves the city of Jerusalem at the Lord’s bidding.
Taking the clue that we are dealing with the reign of Zedekiah we are able to go to II Kings 24:17. 18 and see that Zedekiah reigned for 11 years starting about 600 BC and ending his reign with the 4th and last siege of Jerusalem. This siege was conducted by Nebuchadnezzar and ended with the destruction of Jerusalem and the Babylonian captivity.
At that time Daniel and Ezekiel had already been taken captive to Babylon– Daniel in the first siege and Ezekiel in the third siege. The only prophet left in Jerusalem during Zedekiah’s reign was Jeremiah and he makes that perfectly clear:
Jeremiah 2:8 “and the prophets prophesied by Baal” 5:31 “and the prophets prophesy falsely”
6:13 “and from the prophet even unto the priest every one dealeth falsely”
14:13-16 “the prophets prophesy lies in my name: I sent them not…. They prophesy unto you a false vision and divination.”
23:16 “Hearken not unto the words of the prophets that prophesy unto you”
23:21 “I have not sent these prophets yet they ran: I have not spoken unto them yet they prophesied” 27:14-17 “Therefore hearken not unto the words of the prophets that speak unto you saying ye shall serve not the King of Babylon: for they prophesy a lie unto you…hearken not to the words of your prophets that prophesy unto you…hearken not unto them; serve the King of Babylon and live.” 29:8,9 “Let not your prophets and your diviners that be in the midst of you deceive you…for they prophesy falsely unto you in my name: I have not sent them saith the Lord.”
All these scriptures warn the people NOT to listen to ANY of the other prophets because they were ALL false and spoke lies. It is quite clear that Jeremiah was the only true prophet of God left in Jerusalem during the reign of Zedekiah.
Since God didn’t deliver Ezekiel. Daniel and Jeremiah from bondage but wanted all the people to serve the King of Babylon why would he favor a biblically unnamed prophet with a message in total contradiction to the one given to Jeremiah for the whole nation of Israel? He gave absolutely no biblical indication that some had to serve in Babylon but some would be spared. In fact. He gave some pretty severe warnings to those who would attempt to escape captivity. In Jeremiah 28 we read about the false prophet. Hananiah who taught rebellion against the Lord.
If the judgment of the Lord against Hananiah was death why would God call and send forth another prophet. Lehi with the same rebellious message to the very same people and call him a true prophet? Impossible! If the Book of Mormon were true scripture. Lehi would have to be in direct DISOBEDIENCE to God in leaving Jerusalem to escape capture and bondage in Babylon.
So coming back to page one of the Book of Mormon it immediately fails the basic test. It does not fit into its time frame correctly as true scripture. One need not go a page further to know that we are dealing with a false prophet.
Why do 80% of their door to door converts leave the church within the first year? Because the missionaries lie to them about the becoming gods business. Why do 25% leave the mission field in disgrace and why to 50% of those who survive their two year mission drop out of church activity within two years of coming home? Maybe it’s the lies they must tell?
Unmarried worthy women will be given to worthy men gods who need more wives to make spirit babies to people another planet.
The biggest question is why would they lie? Are they simply embarrassed or ashamed to allow the true teachings of the Church to be known? It would be bad for business indeed. In responding as they have it should be clear to every Mormon knowledgeable of the Church’s teachings that their leaders are LIARS.
Isaiah 9:16 clearly says: For the leaders of this people cause them to err. And those who are led by them are destroyed.
For you were once darkness but now you are light in the Lord. Walk as children of light (for the fruit of the Spirit is in all goodness righteousness and truth) finding out what is acceptable to the Lord. And have no fellowship with the unfruitful works of darkness but rather expose them. For it is shameful even to speak of those things which are done by them in secret. But all things that are exposed are made manifest by the light for whatever makes manifest is light. Therefore He says:
“Awake you who sleep,Arise from the dead,And Christ will give you light.”(Ephesians 5:8-14)
Attempts to bring other Mormons to an understanding of Jesus’ grace.
Longwood. FL () December 8. 2007 — As a former Mormon who spent almost twenty years of his adult life as a member of the LDS Church before becoming a born-again Christian. Ed Decker knows what drives other Mormons to be gods how they are manipulated by their leaders and how to reach them with biblical truth.
$21.99 paperback. 978-1-60477-378-1) is the culmination of more than 50 years of involvement and research on the subject of Mormonism from an insider’s perspective. Says Decker. “This book details and proves that the core goal of every Mormon is to become a god or goddess to people and control an earth like ours to be equal to the god of the Christian worship.”
Perhaps most relevant to Americans today is the chapter called “The Mormon Plan for American and the Rise of Mitt Romney,” which lays out the LDS plan to turn this country into a theocracy run by the prophet of the church from the Washington. D. C. temple. With the rapidly approaching election readers will want to know about the tremendous impact a Mormon president would have upon this nation.
A serious crisis in Decker’s life in 1975 led him to discover the real love of God in Christ and rededicate his life to actively bringing other Mormons into an understanding of how the law and the prophets ended with the advent of grace through Jesus. It has been his heart’s cry ever since then that every Mormon be born again redeemed by the blood of Jesus Christ.
Ed Decker is the author of the bestselling books The God Makers and Unmasking Mormonism. The God Makers II. Fast Facts on False Teachings. What You Need to Know About Mormons. What You Need to Know About Masons and The Dark Side of Freemasonry.

Mitt Romney is a Temple Mormon a High Priest and as such he has sworn blood oaths of sacrifice obedience and consecration to the church and the soon coming long prophesied “Kingdom of God.”
His belief in and obedience to these laws will allow him to become a polygamous god in the next life the literal father of the peoples of a new and different earth. He wears secret undergarments marked with sacred talismanic symbols that he believes will keep him protected as he works his way to godhood. He is truly a Presidential candidate with an actual definable god complex.
This “Kingdom of God” is the actual Mormon Theocracy that will take over the U. S government when the Constitution of the United States “hangs by a thread” and the nation is ’saved’ by the Mormon Brethren the LDS spiritual leaders. The prophet and the apostles and key Mormons in high positions such as Mitt Romney sitting in the Oval Office. The money pouring into his campaign isn’t accidental. It is to fulfill prophecy.
Mitt Romney’s candidacy and possible presidency has become a whispered ground swell of speculation in Mormon circles whispers that the LDS leaders. The Brethren hope do not become public.
In the Book. MY KINGDOM COME. THE MORMON QUEST FOR GODHOOD. Chapter 12 The Mormon Plan for America and the Rise of Mitt Romney will fill you in on the details of this secret plan for our nation.
It has been researched and provided by Ed Decker a man who knows all about the secret “Kingdom of God” and the bloody oaths and rituals of the Mormon Temple. You need to read it now before it is too late!
The Church of Jesus Christ (LDS) is often accused by Evangelical pastors of not believing in Christ and therefore not being a Christian religion This article helps to clarify such misconceptions by examining early Christianity’s theology relating to baptism the Godhead the deity of Jesus Christ and His Atonement.
Early Christian churches practiced baptism of youth (not infants) by immersion by the father of the family. The local congregation had a lay ministry. An early Christian Church has been re-constructed at the Israel Museum and the above can be verified. The Church of Jesus Christ (LDS) continues baptism and a lay ministry as taught by Jesus’ Apostles. Early Christians were persecuted for keeping their practices sacred and prohibiting non-Christians from witnessing them.
A literal reading of the New Testament points to God and Jesus Christ. His Son being separate divine beings united in purpose. To whom was Jesus praying in Gethsemane and Who was speaking to Him and his apostles on the Mount of Transfiguration?
The Nicene Creed”s definition of the Trinity was influenced by scribes translating the Greek manuscripts into Latin. The scribes embellished on a passage explaining the Trinity which is the Catholic and Protestant belief that God is Father. Son and Holy Spirit. The oldest versions of the epistle of 1 John read: “There are three that bear witness: the Spirit the water and the blood and these three are one.”
Scribes later added “the Father the Word and the Spirit,” and it remained in the epistle when it was translated into English for the King James Version according to Dr. Bart Ehrman. Chairman of the Religion Department at UNC- Chapel Hill. He no longer believes in the Nicene Trinity. .
Scholars agree that Early Christians believed in an embodied God; it was neo-Platonist influences that later turned Him into a disembodied Spirit. Harper’s Bible Dictionary entry on the Trinity says “the formal doctrine of the Trinity as it was defined by the great church councils of the fourth and fifth centuries is not to be found in the New Testament.”
Divinization narrowing the space between God and humans was also part of Early Christian belief. St. Athanasius of Alexandria (Eastern Orthodox) wrote regarding theosis. “The Son of God became man that we might become God.” . The Church of Jesus Christ (LDS) views the Trinity as three separate divine beings in accord with the earliest Greek New Testament manuscripts.
Mormons hold firmly to the deity of Christ. For members of the Church of Jesus Christ (LDS). Jesus is not only the Son of God but also God the Son. Evangelical pollster George Barna found in 2001 that while only 33 percent of American Catholics. Lutherans and Methodists (28 percent of Episcopalians) agreed that Jesus was “without sin”. 70 percent of Mormons believe Jesus was sinless.
The Cross became popular as a Christian symbol in the Fifth Century A. D. Members of the Church of Jesus Christ (LDS) believe the proper Christian symbol is Christ’s resurrection not his crucifixion on the Cross. Many Mormon chapels feature paintings of the resurrected Christ or His Second Coming. Furthermore members of the church believe the major part of Christ’s atonement occurred in the Garden of Gethsemane as Christ took upon him the sins of all mankind.
But Mormons don’t term Catholics and Protestants “non-Christian”. They believe Christ’s atonement applies to all mankind. The dictionary definition of a Christian is “of pertaining to believing in or belonging to a religion based on the teachings of Jesus Christ”: All of the above denominations are followers of Christ and consider him divine and the Messiah foretold in the Old Testament. They all worship the one and only true God of Abraham. Isaac and Jacob and address Him in prayer as prescribed in The Lord’s Prayer.
It’s important to understand the difference between Reformation and Restoration when we consider who might be authentic Christians. Early Christians had certain rituals which defined a Christian which members of the Church of Jesus Christ (LDS) continue today. If members of the Church of Jesus Christ (LDS) embrace early Christian theology they are likely more “Christian” than their detractors.
The founder of the Baptist Church in America. Roger Williams just prior to leaving the church he established said this:
“There is no regularly constituted church of Christ on earth nor any person qualified to administer any church ordinances; nor can there be until new apostles are sent by the Great Head of the Church for whose coming I am seeking.” (Picturesque America p. 502.)
Martin Luther had similar thoughts: “Nor can a Christian believer be forced beyond sacred Scriptures,…unless some new and proved revelation should be added; for we are forbidden by divine law to believe except what is proved either through the divine Scriptures or through Manifest revelation.”
He also wrote: “I have sought nothing beyond reforming the Church in conformity with the Holy Scriptures. The spiritual powers have been not only corrupted by sin but absolutely destroyed; so that there is now nothing in them but a depraved reason and a will that is the enemy and opponent of God. I simply say that Christianity has ceased to exist among those who should have preserved it.”
The Lutheran. Baptist and Church of Jesus Christ (LDS) churches recognize an apostasy from early Christianity. The Lutheran and Baptist churches have attempted reform but Mormonism (and Roger Williams and perhaps Martin Luther) require inspired restoration so as to re-establish an unbroken line of authority and apostolic succession.
The 2005 National Study of Youth and Religion published by UNC-Chapel Hill found that Church of Jesus Christ (LDS) youth (ages 13 to 17) were more likely to exhibit these Christian characteristics than Evangelicals (the next most observant group):
1. Attend Religious Services weekly2. Importance of Religious Faith in shaping daily life – extremely important3. Believes in life after death4. Does NOT believe in psychics or fortune-tellers5. Has taught religious education classes6. Has fasted or denied something as spiritual discipline7. Sabbath Observance8. Shared religious faith with someone not of their faith9. Family talks about God scriptures prayer daily10. Supportiveness of church for parent in trying to raise teen (very supportive)11. Church congregation has done an excellent job in helping teens better understand their own sexuality and sexual morality
LDS Evangelical1. 71% 55%2. 52 283. 76 624. 100 955. 42 286. 68 227. 67 408. 72 569. 50 1910. 65 2611. 84 35
So what do you think the motivation is for the Evangelical preachers to denigrate the Mormon Church? You would think Evangelical preachers would be emulating Mormon practices (a creed to believe a place to belong a calling to live out and a hope to hold onto) which were noted by Methodist Rev. Kenda Creasy Dean of the Princeton Theological Seminary as causing Mormon teenagers to “top the charts” in Christian characteristics. (see ) It seems obvious pastors shouldn’t be denigrating a church based on First Century Christianity with high efficacy. The only plausible reason to denigrate Mormons is for Evangelical pastors to protect their flock (and their livelihood).
I was invited many years ago to see the first GodMakers movie (which Mr. Ed Decker produced) at a local baptist church in North Hollywood. CA. As a mormon I was quite curious to to see what it was all about. I watched it in horror and disbelief. I wondered how I as a member of the mormon church for over 30 years had never heard about so many of the doctrines portrayed in this film? To be sure there were some similarities to what I had been taught but the movie had so badly distorted them that they were barely recognizable. That’s right the teachings I grew up with in the LDS church were not presented accurately at all. I wasn’t really surprised but I felt sorry for the good baptists in the audience because they were as shocked and horrified by what they saw as I was. Unfortunately for them they had no frame of reference about mormons and our real doctrine so they bought it all hook line and sinker. Frankly if I or any other mormon I know were to actually believe the weird and perverse doctrine contained in the movie we really would be as looney as some people believe we are. This is also true of most of the things I hear ex-mormons and so-called counter cultists with an axe to grind against our faith or others put forth. Most of this stuff is so wildly slanted or inaccurate that it will never convince an average mormon who does their homework. But that’s not it’s purpose. The real truth is that Ed Decker makes a handsome living by providing pseudo mormon doctrine to pastors worldwide who are trying to keep their flock intact. I ‘m a little unusual in that I have read a LOT of anti-mormon literature over the years and so far it has not even come close to diminishing my faith. It’s not because I have closed my ears to the arguments made which I find for the most part kind of interesting. It’s because those who produce it for the most part. “err in spirit”. By that I mean their true motives are less than sincere. They seem to sometimes feel that they were duped. Sorry but I’m afraid that happens all the time in any large church. Unfortunately some like Ed Decker lie and distort mormon doctrine for a handsome living. He’s actually part of small but vibrant and highly profitable anti-mormon publishing industry. Ed Decker’s real effort is to mislead people about what mormons actually believe. That is what all “self anointed” apostates do in every age and in any church. When you take as your guide what apostates say about their church you are deliberately choosing to believe lies and distortions. I mean isn’t that obvious? If you were listening to an Evangelical apostate how much of what they said would you believe?A little clarification is in order here. Most non-mormons naively think that whatever a former president of the church like Brigham Young or apostle Orson Pratt or my bishop said in years gone by has to be the “doctrine” of the LDS church. This is total nonsense! I have been taught my entire life that there are and were many opinions by church leaders that may or may not be entirely correct. I have been told many times in my church that I was to be guided only by the holy scriptures (the standard works) what is accepted as binding doctrine at a General Conference of the church and personal revelation. And since I believe in a “revealed religion”. I believe that Jesus Christ will reveal the truth of ALL things to me if I am faithful to his commandments. I have had too many spiritual witnesses to the truth of Mormonism. Do yourself a favor if you really want to know the truth about what Mormons believe. Go to a local LDS church. Sit in a few meetings. Listen to what they teach. Listen to them testify of Jesus Christ as the savior of mankind and the importance of following him and keeping his commandments. Actually read the Book of Mormon etc. Try to form your opinion about mormon doctrine from credible sources. If you still think we’re nut’s well that’s just something most of us will accept graciously. Just know that “we claim the privilege of worshiping Almighty God according to the dictates of our own conscience and allow all men the same privilege let them worship how where or what they may.”
Hello Peter. I don’t approve too many posts from people I am ranting about. They have their own blogs and I don’t need the headache. But yours was different. Kind and thoughful. For you and only you. I pass it on. I don’t have to agree with you but I do recognize your good heart. For the record. I was baptised mormon and went to the temple. My brother was a Bishop. My parents were in leadership. I was very active in the church until I left. I remember the teachings and the bias against my non mormon friends. I remember the horror of being baptised for the dead at 12 years old and I remember my parents temple garments. I remember too the good things. The fun times and the lovely people.
