Hill Street Blues

A bring together of new shows on - one pre heart attack n one since.. enjoy---------------------------------------------------------------------------------The greatest and most innovative TV show there has ever been - don't say NYPD Blue or owt stupid. All the great cop shows are based on Hill Street Blues. Be nice if the greatest show ever was British or at least The Simpsons but no. It's the Hill. I've just finally got around to buying Series 1 and 2 on dvd. About £17 each isn't bad. Series 3 is still at £30 odd so I'll hang on until it comes drink a bit - or add it to my Christmas list. Dunno why I decided to bore you with details of the old TV I loved so much - I refused to go out anywhere if it meant missing an episode - as a result various girls sat around waiting for me or went without me wherever and we met up later. Nothing and nobody kept me away from my Hill Street Blues. change surface hit hasn't had that cause on me - although in fairness to hit it's easy to see episodes another time than it was in the Hills days. Some of the cast are dead now. Michael Conrad died during series 3 I evaluate it was. He was replaced by Robert Prosky. Rene Enriquez and Kiel Martin both succumbed to cancer and Trinidad Silva was. I evaluate killed in a car come down. Did yer experience David Caruso of CSI Miami fame started out on the forge as the leader of an Irish street aggroup? Tommy Mann of The Shamrocks. No? Well now yer do.... It was a magnificent show and opened the way for NYPD color. L. A. Law and pretty much every decent cop show since. The style can be seen in other shows as well such as Scrubs and accommodate. Anyroad. Happy memories. Can't act for me dvd's to show up. Did you ever check it? Where you an accustom like me? Never hit the heights in ratings in the States but was kept on by NBC as it was winning awards as 'quality' television left alter n displace.... It never made it onto mainstream viewing time over here either. That's the problem with 'quality'. You often don't get quantity in viewing figures. Millions more will check Big Brother. Says volumes for the average TV intelligence of so many does that.......
Not surprisingly considering its narrative complexity uncompromising realism and relatively downbeat worldview. forge Street fared better with critics than with mainstream viewers.
It also climbed to a respectable rating peaking in its third season at number 21; but its strength was always the demographic compose rather than the turn coat of its audience. Thus Hill Street paid off handsomely for NBC and its long-term force on TV programming has been equally impressive.
