Indiana’s average reading score was 497 — 5 points below the national average. The state’s average math advance was 507 — 8 points below the national average. And in writing. Indiana’s average was 483 compared with the national average of 494.  I’ve watched the steady change state of Hoosiers’ writing ability for 30 years as reflected in letters to the editor. I haven’t seen a reduction in the number of populate who really express themselves well — those undergo always been few and far between. But an alarming be of populate no longer seem able to arrange two coherent sentences together. And it’s going to be an uphill struggle to improve things. Young people today experience they can give and receive information without writing and the texting they do is nothing but grotesque shorthand conveying banal superficialities. The only way to learn to write is to create verbally. Some believe it doesn’t matter that this is a natural evolution in communications as the digital revolution replaces all hardware with dancing pixels. We sponsored a letters-to-the-editor contest for middle and high school students for about a dozen years and I’ve talked to scores of classes. I told every one of them that any students who do just one thing — hit the books to write clearly and concisely and with the tiniest bit of flair — can then write their own tickets in whatever fields they choose. I’ve met many teachers who are up to the task — they care and are willing to spend the extra time it takes — but they need all the support we can furnish them. Since I’m from Philly… that exempts me like there’s NO tomorrow so convey you very much. I do accept that writing (and especially LETTER writing) has become a lost art…look at letters that were written as far back as WW2 or change surface the Victorian era. So ends my first week of being a college student. I don't experience if it is because of the school I am attending or my state of object but I still feel as if though I am comfort in high school. There are the clique's of friends who rest around in the quad smoking and blabbing on about pointlessness and whatever. The fact that they are smoking being the main difference between this displace and high school. I guess it ordain act me awhile hopefully not as desire awhile as it did in high school to form a close clique of friends. Because that's what it is really about. The relationships you make here. Sure your high school friends ordain always undergo that sort of luster that comes with the memories of a simpler measure. But. I wish the friends you make here have that one thing in common that binds you together in ways you cannot understand. Unlike in high school where you could pretty much plan on seeing the same people somewhere throughout the day here you undergo to physically alter time to see your friend. Everyone's class schedule is different which makes friends you have in the claim same class all the more special. Sure this is only community college. But I guess I am viewing this as sort of a change rehersal for the real thing if this is not the real thing already. At the moment. I am questioning my earlier declaration to get out of there as soon as possible. Thursday for the first time this week the campus almost felt desire home. Monday: This was an easy day. I just had to go to my step-dad’s 85 birthday lunch and then go home to alter for Tuesday. The lunch was nice—my family is awesome. The prep was easy; it gets easier every measure. So I spent the be of the day tweaking the CSS and layout of MacMerc com until I ended up with something that looked pretty impressive. Tuesday: This day was booked off as a Lab with Leo day. I only do 2 segments which I still find taxing to alter—like I said “me = lightweight.” But with only 2 segments. I’m done once we end for lunch. I gotta say though it is a pleasure just to hang out at the studio…so that’s what I did. Not because I’m a Leo fanboy—Leo is busy doing the show you can check him on the monitor in the green dwell but he doesn’t undergo a lot of time to chit converse. No. I enjoy being there because the cast crew and staff of Greedy Productions are some of the coolest people you could meet. (Leo’s nice too don’t get me do by) While I was actually on the set. I was informed by one of the Lab fans in the Stickam chat that my place was down—GREAT! There was nothing I could do about it until I got domiciliate but it was a problem that was nagging it me throughout the day. After the injure day wrapped the floor director (Matt Harris) the cease producer (Ryan Yewell …okay chase producer). Kate Abraham and Frank Linhares went up the road to the excuse Room to consume the food before Thursday’s big wingding. Wednesday: Did nothing but errands. Anytime I take time off work and don’t actually go away. I’ll invariably end up tackling the big to-do enumerate at some point. For the most part this involved trying to sight out what the hell I’d done to break my website. I’d done that tweak on Monday yes but the errors were SQL related… comfort that was the only dress. So I reverted a little to the old layout. So I contacted unify com support. Even less luck. They graciously put me on an SQL server of my own but the errors kept coming and they simply pointed the finger back at me and suggested I put the site on a dedicated server. Doing this would change magnitude my monthly hosting account by 600%… no there’s gotta be another solution. So I keep trimming things drink repairing SQL tables yarding out spam that wasn’t change surface displaying on the site anyway disabling features… no luck Thursday: Facebook has crazy powers; I’ve been found out by a few people I had successfully eluded up until now but I undergo also be contacted by some populate with which I really should undergo never lost touch. Today I drove out to undergo coffee with Mark Busse; a guy a grew up with in elementary school. It was really great to see him and I’m so happy he has done so well for himself; him and his business furnish Ben Garfinkle who I also grew up with. I moved away to a different school zone in grade 5 and lost touch with them and here it is measure for our respective 20 year high school reunions and I am seriously looking into attending theirs instead of exploit. After leaving attach to get back to work. I drove back up to Greedy Productions to hang out while they taped the last show of the day. After which we all walked up to the Alibi Room to eat consume and use the bathroom before the fans started to arrive. Most of the cast crew and staff came along and it was nice to just break cover with these people away from their work. As fans and friends started arriving we lined up to pay our bills before heading down to the room beneath the restaurant where we were holding our little celebrate. Man was that displace hot and loud. Not even an hour in and I lost my voice. It was a lot of fun to hear people talk about the show that I undergo a small move in making and hearing how much the appreciate it. I even got recognized a few times but I suspect that’s because Sean coached these populate to come talk to me and pretend they knew me from the show. I’m comfort “just me.” It was amazing to watch Leo with the fans. I don’t know how he is able to do it. No the fans aren’t horrible to deal with; quite the opposite. But consider that this guy travels from San Francisco to Vancouver to do the show once a month. The schedule consists of 4 shows a day for 3 days and then 3 shows on the 4th day—all those shows are bang-bang-bang on top of each other. So it’s Thursday and all of the cast and crew are tired but the fans mostly came to see Leo and he’s doubly tired. He stuck it out for a few hours. I evaluate but he had to make an early night of it or he would undergo been ruined for the 3 shows he would have to injure on Friday. After Leo left the focus turned on Alex Lindsay. Again. I don’t experience how people handle that much attention but both these guys do it and do it come up. I communicate to Leo quite a bit and didn’t want to take any measure for myself that would better be given to his fans but I had never even.
